About Me

My photo
Hello! My name is Jennifer Beard, I am a wife & SAHM of two gorgeous kids! I love any form of crafting, I started very young, I really cant remember a time when I wasnt making things with my hands. My grandmother taught me to sew as a child, my mom made home decor, my great grandmother quilted and made ceramics...I've done all of that myself, and a little over two years ago I discovered scrapbooking! I love to create beautiful little works of art! I love to paper piece little things and put them on pages to sortve tell a story. I'm in love with making tear bears, I think they're so cute! I'd have to say that my favorite thing to create would be scrapbook albums, mostly vintage themes. I love taking "old" items and giving them new life!

BTDL (Better Than Doing Laundry)

I am VERY pleased to announce that I am the newest member of the design team Better Than Doing Laundry (BTDL). For years I have literally drooled over the work of these talented ladies, never dreaming that I'd ever be one of them. I couldnt be happier that I am. Such a sweet group of ladies and the talent in there is just AMAZING! You can find the work of all of the talented designers by searching BTDL in your search bar on ebay.

It's been awhile...

Hello, everyone! It's been so long since I've posted on my blog, April 21, 2010 to be exact...alot has happened since then. In my home life, we FINALLY got our living room remodeled! It's taken a long time. Years, actually. We started out trying to do it ourselves, to save money, that proved to be a disaster. So we hired a guy to help us, he was slow, and we had to sometimes throw a fit to get him here, but he's cheap, and its done, so no worries. I am thrilled to have new carpet, tile and walls in here! Finally it doesnt look like the 70's in my living room, NO more panelling! Yippee!!

As for my world in scrapbooking, alot has changed there too. I left the design team that I'd been with for several years, and then later joined another one, I wont say which one, most of you know already anyway, let's just say that things "didnt work out", and leave it at that. I did join Treasure Box Designs DT about a month ago, I REALLY enjoy using Dina's patterns! They're so fun! I'm still in the Make Scrapbooks Not Dinner DT on ebay (MSND), of course I've been with those girls for years too. I have been creating quite alot lately tho. We will see if maybe I can get some photos on here without them being sideways! I'll try. I've been doing alot of premade pages and selling them on ebay, although ebay has been just a tad slow the last few weeks, for me anyway. I am currently working on a Zoo themed chipboard album, I'm not getting very far with it, as I seem to have lost my "mojo" a little bit. This happens to me alot, when I work steadily for a few weeks, then I need time off. DH and I are discussing a zoo trip to Oklahoma City on Saturday, so maybe a trip to an actual zoo will help my mojo come back...

I hope to be blogging a bit more in the future, I seem to always say this, and only come back every few months LOL...let's hope I can stick to this. I'd like to start playing with blogs and doing some scrapbooking blog challenges sometime soon, if anyone can reccomend any please leave me a comment! I've got one place in mind already...but since I dont blog often, and do the "blog hopping" I dont really know what is out there and who is doing what.

Here is my latest...it was inspired by the children's books "Fancy Nancy" as well as my own memories of my daughter playing dress up as a child...

making fake frosting

Not sure what I am doing wrong on my pics lol...but here is an upside down one. This is my "fake frosting". I wanted to share with you the technique I learned if you dont already know it...I found it on another blog, and will now share it with you. All this is is "spackling", yeah, the stuff you use on your walls, mixed with chalk, spread out and let dry. You can also add glitter like I've done, and to make sure it stays just simply spray with hairspray when its all dry. Wallah! You have a delightfully delicious looking cupcake!

Love is in the air

Here is one of my latest layouts, I just sold it on ebay last week! It's titled "Love is in the Air". I think it turned out so adorable. The deer is one of Lapulenta's, the turtle is treasure box designs, and the skunks & lovebirds are precious piecings...and of course, the bears are mine!

Happy Monday...

So I've been a busy girl the last couple weeks...I created two Valentine layouts for ebay, which I will show you later, and started a blog for the ebay design team I belong to Preserving Your Lasting Original Treasures (PY LOT), you should check it out, its still a bit under construction, but so far so good...I'm following it on this blog, so just click on its icon and have a look. My mom came to stay with me on Friday night...we live 120 miles apart, so we dont see each other often. She very much wants to get into scrapbooking, as well she should with the "mini hobby lobby" she has going on in her craft room. I'm tellin ya, she has an expressions and probably 50 cartrages NEVER OPENED! She's had the machine a year now! She's been dying to learn to make tear bears, so I gave her my pattern to take home, and taught her how I do it. She was so excited. It felt good to do something like that with her...I miss my mom terribly. I was going to upload pics...but I cant recall where I put them on my computer. Ill find them another time...or just go to ebay ID: brianbeard79 the two layouts are listed there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hello, and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! I hope you all had a terrific holiday season! We had a great one, lots of fun and family time. I rang in the new year scrapbooking, DH was working, so it was just me and DS at home. I did complete and list a cute little tear bear Valentine layout on ebay! I also made a New Year's bear set with champagne glasses, turned out really cute. Other than that I've been up to nothing much. I am getting ready to start another valentine project, I'll post pics when I get it done. In the meantime, here are some photos of my recent creations!
